Found by pupils

Uniquely among driving school web site providers, my web sites are found in high positions by search engines. This is due to extensive research into Search Engine Optimisation, the method by which you allow search engines to find your site and know what it’s about.

So, when people search for driving lessons in your town, the search engine will know that your site is about this and will show it high up in their results.

Also uniquely, because your website is part of an established and trusted domain, it will be found by visitors within a few weeks, rather than the 6 to 8 months it can take for a new domain to become effective (if it ever does). Can you afford to wait?

Gets you pupils

Due to the above, people will find your site easily with a simple search. Having found it, the straightforward design will allow them to find the information they are looking for. Your site will stand out from the crowd by being understated and elegant. Have you seen some of the garish, ugly sites out there clamouring for attention? My sites are for the driving instructor who doesn’t have to try - too hard!

Costs nothing

In fact, a driving school website from me will never really cost you anything at all, because it is completely free until it receives 100 visitors a month. My experience has shown that by the time a site is getting 100 visitors a month it is generating pupils. All you need to do at this point is to send some of your extra earnings my way to the tune of £15 per month. If you are a larger driving school with more than 10 instructors, send £30 per month once you are receiving 200 visitors. If you never receive that many visitors you send no money, and even if you do you can cancel at any time if you find you don’t need the extra work.

Proven track record

It is because of a proven track record that I can offer to do all this work for you with no guarantee of getting any money out of you. I have been running my own web site, Beeston Driver Training, on this domain for 3½ years ( plus 2 years before that on free hosting ) and have had paying web site customers for more than 2½ years. As it happens, both of these are large driving schools, and have been quite happily paying £30 per month all this time. My other customers, all individual driving instructors, have been paying £15 per month, again happily. Would they continue to pay if they were not happy? I doubt it. My preferred payment method is by standing order, I’ll send you an invoice at the appropriate time.

You can keep an eye on your visitor numbers using the counter on your site. This counts only unique visitors; anyone visiting more than once in 24 hours is only counted once.

Updates are included in the price, so if you need to change your prices or anything else just email it in.

Improvements are also included. As an inveterate nerd I can’t seem to help myself. I’ve recently added the visitor counter, and a few months ago I added code to put up a box at the top of the site to tell the visitor driving lessons are offered in the town they searched for, so they know they are in the right place and will read on. This has certainly improved my enquiries, and is now a feature of all my sites. It is also completely unique.

If you want your own domain name to put on you car, you can buy one elsewhere very cheaply and have it point to the domain I provide. It will then act as an alias which people can type in their browser to find you.

Some technical details, for the nerdishly inclined. The site will be hand written using XHTML 1.0 Strict, the layout, which is unique, is provided by CSS(2), client side scripting by Javascript / DOM, and server side scripting by PHP. All coding is to W3C standards and validates cleanly, so it runs on all modern browsers and operating systems.

The web site is provided by me, Ed Wicks, a driving instructor for 8 years, formerly a free lance computer programmer for 12. Once a nerd, always a nerd. Sad but true.
